Create an Incredible Community Management Team

Any team needs to function well together to succeed. This is also true in the working world. Your community management team can only excel if they can work as a team instead of a group of individuals. If you’re having trouble crafting an incredible community management team, check out these three tips.

Know the Person You Are Hiring

When interviewing a potential candidate, it’s easy to just see them as a name and a bit of information on their resume. However, this only reflects a small portion of the person. Their resume isn’t going to tell you if they will fit with your team. It will just tell you if they have the qualifications to do the job. It’s important to get to know the person a little better. Do this by asking questions. Just make sure you don’t ask any inappropriate questions, such as if they are married or have kids. It’s also useful to introduce them to other members of the team to see how they interact. If there is immediate tension, you know it’s not going to get better.

Help Produce Great Workers

Once you have the team you like, the work doesn’t end there. It’s important to always offer your team room to grow and become better workers. Offer educational opportunities, so your employees can grow their resumes further. It may seem like improving their qualifications only makes it more likely for them to leave for a different job, but that isn’t usually the case. When you let workers grow, they are more likely to stay with the company because they feel appreciated. If you have multiple communities, you may want to choose a few team members to groom for management positions. This will also make them feel appreciated and valuable to the team.

Listen to Your Team

Above all, it’s important to listen to your team. You may be the boss, but you are still part of the team. Don’t just talk at your employees. Communicate with them and listen. Institute an open-door policy, and when employees come to talk to you, listen to them without getting angry or offended if you disagree with something they say, or if they offer criticism.

One of the most important things you can do to make a good team is to show your employees you appreciate them. When they feel valued, they will be more productive and work together better.
